Vacancy: Logistics and Facilities Supervisor

Requirements:

  • N3 Mechanical / Electrical or Millwright or Diesel Mechanic.
  • Supervisory course, Post matric qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • One year experience of basic maintenance and first line support on plant machinery & equipment such as, TLB, MEWP, Excavator, Diesel Bowser, Water Pumps, Hydraulic Crimpers, Truck Mounted Cranes, Generators and Power Tools including equipment control and repair. Proven experience in Excel and Admin (Microsoft packages).

 

Responsibilities:

  • Equipment control, maintenance, and repairs
  • Minimises breakdowns and optimises equipment by conducting preventive maintenance.
  • Assist Asset Store Supervisor with planning and execution of quarterly plant inspections.
  • Ensure resources, tools, and equipment are available for site.
  • Investigates root cause and identifies problem area on equipment.
  • Daily checks on generators, including fueling.
  • Report on plant availability and repairs
  • Daily check and reporting of equipment availability to the Construction Manager.
  • Attends all first-line equipment breakdown assessments and determines local repairs or third-party repairs.
  • Compile and submit weekly plant usage sheets.
  • Compile and submit a monthly diesel usage reconciliation sheet.
  • Receiving all tools and equipment, and dispatching and return of tools and equipment.
  • Conducts monthly stock takes of equipment inventory.
  • Collaborate with the Logistics Team for all major planned plant maintenance.
  • Check the premises regularly to ensure compliance with Health & Safety Regulations.
  • Advise Construction Manager on appropriate security controls, lighting, and processes.
  • Record and repair/report any plumbing, fencing, kitchen, offices, stores, and electrical issues on Site.
  • Supervise and instruct all cleaners at the site laydown and accommodation areas.
  • Facilitate any outsourced equipment installation and repairs.
  • Execute and monitor planned preventative maintenance.
  • Oversee waste management, garbage collection, pest control, and related operations.
  • Carry out bi-weekly inspections of the laydown and accommodation facilities and report any issues to the Construction Manager.
  • Procure and monitor cleaning consumables for site laydown and accommodation areas.
  • Ensure that plant and equipment fuel/diesel supplies are available at the point of use.
  • Ensuring functional operation & compliance of all sites related operations & facilities (on & off site), including power supply, security, access control, lighting, etc.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient utilisation of resources on site – check and control.
  • Conduct regular inspections on plant and equipment, including log sheet inspections to ensure compliance with required statutory requirements.
  • Compile, integrate, approve, and submit within the required timeframes all HR / IR, Payroll, and financial returnable to Head Offices, such as – PTWO, Time Sheets, Petty Cash, Contracts, Travel Applications, and Reimburse V-Do vehicle usage, fuel usage – bowser, recon on proforma invoices, etc.
  • Execute and monitor all asset control principles, such as site storage control, updated asset registers, and plant and equipment reconciliations.
  • Manage / Monitor Sub-Contractors / JV Partners in terms of compliance, progress, quality, procurements, invoices & claims, etc. (plant hire, toilets, etc.).
  • Pro-forma Invoices – Approve & Submit (Major Plant, Small Plant, & Yard Stock).
  • Compile Non-Technical Requisition for Major and Small plant.
  • Sourcing accommodation in the area and ensuring the lease has the correct people for review.
  • Manage rentals, notify the PM when rentals aren’t needed, and give notice to rental agencies.
  • Manage occupation (ensure employees sign policy, do entry and exit inspections).
  • Manage resource (all aspects) management and site capacity planning & implementation, major plant, small plant, and external hire plant.
  • Resource allocation and optimisation reports and plans, along with the Logistics Manager & Asset Store Lead.
