Vacancy: Diesel Mechanic

Job Purpose:
To maintain, service, and repair the company’s diesel truck fleet to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance on diesel trucks and trailers
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
- Inspect engines, braking systems, steering, suspension, gearboxes, and drivetrains
- Conduct fault finding using diagnostic tools and manuals
- Repair or replace defective parts and components
- Perform breakdown repairs and emergency call-outs when required
- Complete vehicle inspections and roadworthiness checks
- Ensure compliance with safety, legal, and company maintenance standards
- Maintain accurate service records, job cards, and maintenance reports
- Keep the workshop clean, safe, and well-organized
- Communicate maintenance issues and repair needs to supervisors
Minimum Requirements
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic on heavy vehicles / trucks
- Trade qualification or relevant technical training (advantageous)
- Sound knowledge of diesel engines and truck systems
- Ability to diagnose faults and work under pressure
- Willingness to work overtime, shifts, or standby if required
