Overview
This is a senior, high-impact leadership role within one of South Africa’s established players in high-voltage transmission infrastructure.
You will take full accountability for multiple large-scale transmission line projects (400kV / 765kV), driving delivery from inception through to completion, while managing technical, commercial, and operational performance.
This is not a desk-based PM role, this is heavy construction, Eskom-aligned execution at scale.
Minimum Requirements:
Degree / National Diploma in:
Construction Management
Project Management
Built Environment
Technical degree = advantageous
Professional Registration (Non-negotiable):
Registered with SACPCMP (Pr.PM or Pr.CPM)
7–10+ years in HV transmission OHL projects
Proven delivery of 400kV and/or 765kV projects in South Africa
Strong experience with:
Eskom / NTCSA standards
Full construction lifecycle (not design-only)
Portfolio-level experience managing multiple large contracts
Highly Advantageous:
FIDIC / NEC contract experience
Strong commercial & contractual exposure
Key Responsibilities:
Full accountability for project delivery (end-to-end)
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards
Act as primary client interface (Eskom / NTCSA / IPPs)
Oversee engineering, logistics, commissioning, and construction activities
Lead execution across:
Site mobilisation & access
Route clearance & surveying
Foundations & tower erection
Stringing & commissioning
Provide technical direction and challenge design assumptions
Manage plant, environmental constraints, and safety risks
Handle:
Claims & variations
EOTs & delay analysis
Progress certifications
Ensure full compliance with contractual and financial requirements
Define project scope and execution strategy
Lead risk identification and mitigation
Manage resource planning and site capacity
Anticipate and resolve delivery risks proactively
Lead multiple teams:
Project Managers
Construction Managers
Site teams
Mentor junior PMs and drive capability building
Coordinate across Engineering, Commercial, Logistics & SHEQ
