Overview:
We are currently recruiting for a Handyman to support the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of facilities within a professional working environment.
This role is responsible for performing general maintenance and minor repairs to ensure that buildings, equipment, and surrounding areas remain safe, functional, and well maintained. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting operational efficiency and maintaining high standards across the site.
Requirements:
• Minimum Grade 12 / Matric (or equivalent)
• At least 3 years’ experience in a similar maintenance or handyman role
• Practical experience in one or more trades (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or similar)
• Working knowledge of general building maintenance and repair practices
• Ability to safely use hand and power tools
• Ability to work at heights and operate access equipment where trained
• Sound understanding of Occupational Health and Safety requirements
• Valid driver’s license
Key Responsibilities
• Perform general maintenance and minor repairs across buildings, fixtures, and equipment (including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, tiling, and painting work within scope)
• Conduct routine inspections to identify defects, safety risks, and maintenance requirements
• Report complex issues and escalate where specialist intervention is required
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of work areas, facilities, and surrounding grounds
• Assist with installation, relocation, and assembly of furniture, fittings, and equipment
• Safely operate tools, equipment, ladders, and lifting machinery where authorised
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations and report incidents or near-misses
• Maintain basic maintenance records, including work completed and materials used
• Support contractors on-site by preparing work areas and coordinating access
• Participate in standby duties, after-hours callouts, and emergency response when required
• Trade-related certification (electrical, plumbing, or similar) – highly beneficial
