Our client is a leading EPC organization delivering large-scale electrical and civil infrastructure projects across the energy, utilities, and industrial sectors.
We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to provide technical leadership and engineering oversight across high-voltage electrical and civil infrastructure projects. The role covers full project lifecycle support including engineering, design coordination, procurement, construction, commissioning, stakeholder management, and delivery.
Requirements:
• National Diploma, BTech, BEng, or BSc in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering
• Professional registration (Pr Eng/Pr Tech Eng advantageous)
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in construction, engineering, or consulting
• Strong experience in HV electrical and/or civil infrastructure projects
• Exposure to Eskom, NTCSA, IPP, REIPPP, EPC projects advantageous
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide technical leadership across project execution
• Review designs, drawings, and technical documentation for compliance with standards and client requirements
• Support design reviews, value engineering, and technical problem-solving
• Oversee construction quality and technical compliance
• Manage technical risks and mitigation actions
• Support project delivery within scope, budget, and schedule
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities
• Assist with planning, scheduling, and resource coordination
• Conduct technical evaluations of quotations and specifications
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers
• Support SHEQ, ISO, and statutory compliance, including audits and inspections
• Provide input into tenders, proposals, and project submissions
• Mentor and support engineering teams and continuous improvement
Skills & Attributes:
• Strong knowledge of HV infrastructure and industry standards (Eskom, NTCSA, municipal)
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Commercial awareness and stakeholder management ability
• Proficient in MS Office, MS Project, Primavera, Candy, BuildSmart
• Strong leadership, accountability, and decision-making ability
• Detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to perform under pressure
