Our client, a leading South African engineering and construction company specializing in electrical and infrastructure projects, is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to provide engineering leadership and technical oversight across high-voltage electrical and civil infrastructure projects.
Minimum Requirements:
* National Diploma, B.Tech, BEng or BSc in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
* Registered Professional Engineering Technologist or higher.
* Minimum 7 years’ experience within the engineering, construction, or consulting environment.
* Experience in high-voltage electrical and/or civil infrastructure projects.
* Strong understanding of Eskom, NTCSA, IPP and REIPPP environments.
* Experience with design coordination, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project execution.
Advantageous:
* Experience with substations, transmission lines, renewable energy, rail electrification, or large infrastructure projects.
* Exposure to design management and value engineering.
* Experience working on Eskom, NTCSA, IPP, or REIPPP projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide technical leadership and engineering oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
* Manage engineering deliverables, design partners, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
* Review designs for compliance, constructability, and cost-effectiveness.
* Support project planning, procurement, scheduling, risk management, and resource allocation.
* Ensure technical compliance with client, statutory, and industry requirements.
* Act as the technical interface between clients, consultants, engineering teams, and project execution teams.
* Support tendering, project reporting, stakeholder engagement, and commercial compliance.
* Oversee FAT/SAT activities, technical audits, and engineering quality assurance processes.
Knowledge Required:
* High-voltage electrical and civil infrastructure.
* EPC/EPCM project execution.
* Construction methodologies and project controls.
* Contract administration and commercial awareness.
* Microsoft Office, MS Project, Primavera, Candy, and BuildSmart.
