Our client, a leading South African engineering and construction company specializing in electrical and infrastructure projects are looking to employ a Planner.
Minimum Requirements:
• Grade 12 / Matric.
• Relevant qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or similar will be advantageous.
• Proficient in Primavera P6, Candy, and/or Microsoft Project.
• Minimum 5–10 years’ planning experience within the construction industry.
• Proven experience with:
o Bulk Earthworks
o Civil Construction
o Building Construction
o OHTE (Overhead Track Equipment) and Electrical Projects
• Experience developing, updating, and managing project schedules from tender stage through project completion.
• Experience with resource forecasting, progress reporting, critical path analysis, and project controls.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning & Scheduling
• Develop and maintain construction programmes using Primavera, Candy, and/or MS Project.
• Establish project baselines, milestones, and critical paths.
• Monitor project progress against baseline schedules.
• Conduct schedule impact analyses and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare and issue updated project schedules and reports.
Resource Forecasting
• Monitor labour, plant, and equipment requirements.
• Prepare resource allocation and optimization reports.
• Support cash-flow and resource planning activities.
Reporting & Controls
• Develop and maintain progress reporting systems including:
o S-Curves
o Histograms
o Dashboards
o Earned Value Analysis
o Progress Curves
• Compile monthly project reports and analyse deviations from plan.
Tender Support
• Participate in tender programme development.
• Liaise with estimators and tender teams.
• Provide scheduling support during bid preparation.
Commercial Support
• Track delay events and commercial milestones.
• Conduct schedule impact assessments.
• Assist with claims and contractual reporting requirements.
Knowledge Required:
• Construction methodologies and industry best practices.
• Project planning and scheduling principles.
• Critical path analysis.
• Resource loading and forecasting.
• Project controls and reporting systems.
• Contract administration and delay analysis.

• Advanced Primavera P6 expertise.
• Experience with claims support and delay analysis.
• Knowledge of earned value management (EVM).
